We offer three programs: Massage Therapy, Massage Therapy Evening Core, and Shiatsu. All our programs are well-balanced, integrating theory, technique, anatomy and physiology, practical experience, and personal and professional development.

Massage Therapy and Shiatsu can provide profound health effects on the body when performed with consciousness and deep understanding of how the body functions as a whole. To know how to affect change through bodywork treatments, you need a comprehensive training which combines personal growth with a rigorous study of the science and theory behind the practice of Massage Therapy and/or Shiatsu.

At Cortiva Institute - Tucson, the instructors offer you significant personal attention and hands-on experiences in order to help you refine your skills. Students perform Massage Therapy and/or Shiatsu treatments on instructors for feedback and testing. All of the faculty members are graduates of Desert Institute of the Healing Arts's internal teaching program called START (Seminars for Training and Recruiting Teachers) and several have received national teaching awards.

At the Cortiva Institute - Tucson, we are committed to ensure that graduates are taught the skills they need to pass the Licensing Exam, and we design our program to equally balance sciences, practical application and personal growth.

With the Massage Therapy Program at Desert Institute of the Healing Arts you will learn fundamental techniques in a classroom setting and also by practicing in a supervised and supportive environment. Your coursework in Anatomy and Physiology will give you a solid foundation in understanding the structure, function and health of the human body. We also provide training in body mechanics and self-care so that you can enjoy a healthy career. Coursework in communications, business, ethics, entrepreneurship, massage therapy, wellness and movement create a fully integrated educational program.

It is extremely important to learn how to integrate knowledge with intuition. We provide instructor-supervised clinics and hands-on practical testing for this. Clinical experience in working with a wide variety of body types and healthcare challenges is a vital part of your education.

We also teach you how to interact properly and effectively with a client. Listening skills, rapport, the ability to communicate with care, and the importance of holding high ethical standards are essential in your delivery of Massage Therapy treatments.
